Saguaro Fit

The Saguaro Set has a loose, easy fit, and is pulled in with elastic. The pattern was drafted using sample measurements for a height of 5’6” [168 cm] and a B-cup bra size. We always recommend sewing up a toile to get the fit perfect before cutting into your precious fabric. The pants are high waisted and are designed to sit above your bellybutton.

Below are some common fit adjustments and how to do them!

Full/Small Bust Adjustment

The Saguaro Top is drafted using sample measurements for a b-cup bra but it is suitable for many cup sizes. If you have more than a 4-5” difference between upper and full bust you may want to do a full bust adjustment. If you find that you are petite through the chest and/or shoulders and necklines often gape on you, you may want to do a small bust adjustment.

Small Bust Adjustment:

  • On Top Front (A), starting at center front cut across the Adjustment Line, without cutting all the way through the arm end. Overlap the upper and lower part of your neckline to remove the desired amount of ease.
  • Tape in place.
  • Smooth out neckline edge and retrace your pattern piece.

Full Bust Adjustment:

  • On Top Front (A), starting at center front cut across the Adjustment Line, without cutting all the way through the arm end. Spread the upper and lower part of your neckline to add the desired amount of ease.
  • Tape a scrap of paper in place behind your new opening.
  • Smooth out neckline edge and retrace your pattern piece.

Increasing Center Front Overlap:

The Saguaro Top has a deep plunging neckline and even with the tie it is not full coverage. If you want more coverage you may want to increase the overlap on the front.

  • On Top Front (A), find the center point on the waist seam and draw a line straight up to the shoulder seam.
  • Starting at the waist, cut up the line without cutting through the shoulder edge.
  • Spread your pieces apart to add the desired amount of center front overlap. Tape a scrap of paper in place behind your new opening.
  • Move the notch at the waist of your pattern piece over the amount that you spread your pieces apart.
  • Smooth out waist edge and retrace your pattern piece.

Lengthening or Shortening the Pants:

  • To add length, extend the side and inseam edges of Pants Front (G) and Pants Back (H) the desired amount.
  • To shorten, measure up desired amount on Pants Front (G) and Pants Back (H) and trim the pattern piece.

Full Butt Adjustment:

If you have find that pants don't sit high enough in the back you may want to do a full butt adjustment.

  • On Pants Back (H), draw a line perpendicular to center back about halfway down the back center seam.
  • Starting at center back edge, cut along the line without cutting through the side seam edge.
  • Spread your pieces apart to add the desired amount to center back. Tape a scrap of paper in place behind your new opening.
  • Smooth out center back edge and retrace your pattern piece.
